Scotland Students Head Coach Nathan Graham has announced his 23-man squad for the Student World Cup.

The squad will depart the UK on 30th June for Sydney, Australia to compete in the two week event. Nathan is excited by the upcoming World Cup.

The lads have progressed nicely through our warm up process. There is a good mix of newcomers and more experienced players who are gelling together really well.

We’ve had two games together against the Halifax and Keighley reserves and we have one more game to go before we depart. That is on top of the trial matches we held prior to seecting the squad.

All the members of the squad know what a privileged position they are in and that they have a chance in a lifetime to perform on a
world stage.

For the 23 players who travel, they know they have to continue to keep working hard as there will be competition for places with 4 more players joining the squad once we arrive in Australia.

Everyone has bought into our whole ethos and through that we aim to perform to the best of our abilities throughout the comp. Not only that they will really enjoy looking round one of the greatest cities in the world.

The squads last build up weekend is on the 17th and 18th of June when the squad will take on the Scotland Club XIII in Edinburgh. The Students will arrive in Sydney on 1st July where they will have four days prep in the city centre before the competition starts.

I know to a man everybody will be doing their utmost to do the Scotland shirt proud and I’m really looking forward to spending time in camp, seeing tight relationships grow and seeing the guys perform.

The squad will be one of the most diversely selected Scotland Student sides selected for a Student World Cup, with 17 institutions represented. Northumbria have the biggest representation with three players, whilst Leeds Beckett, Oxford Brookes, TAFE Illawarra and the University of Newcastle have two.
