Scotland Rugby League are very pleased to announce that Danny Addy is taking over the leadership of their Under 19 programme for the rest of 2018. He succeeds Anthony Atherton as Head Coach who, after a very successful period leading the Scotland Under 19’s, has moved on to exciting new challenges with the Wigan Warriors and England Under 16 programmes.
Hull KR player, Addy, is an experienced Scotland international having already played in 2 World Cups, the 4 Nations and 2 European Championships. He is currently recovering from a serious knee injury. Addy will take over preparations for this summer’s Under 19 European Championships as well as preparing the team for games in September against Cumbria and England Lions. He will be supported by experienced Assistant Coach Liam Prescott.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Scotland Rugby League. To be involved in international rugby league for the first time was a very challenging and exciting opportunity. I have learnt a lot and would like to thank all the players, volunteer staff and supporters who create such a special set up in Scotland
I am incredibly proud to represent and support Scotland. I have been on at the Chairman, Keith Hogg, for some time to find a way for me to get involved in coaching. Obviously, I didn’t want to get seriously injured but it has given me the chance to take up this great opportunity. I am very grateful to my club, Hull KR, for releasing me to do this. To get the chance to develop my rugby league coaching experience within the Scotland Rugby League set up and help some of Scotlands younger players develop is very exciting.

I would like to thank Ant for all his hard work on behalf of Scotland Rugby League. He has had a very positive impact on our Under 19 programme which is reflected in the numbers taking part and the performances on the pitch. Danny is one of a large group of players whose commitment to the Bravehearts is outstanding and who want to put something back into the development of the sport in Scotland. We did not want to see him get injured but with great support from Hull KR, we are really pleased to have him leading our Under 19 programme for the rest of 2018.
