Telford kicked off this first ever West v East College match on Wednesday the 7th of December with an almighty wind blowing the ball straight down the middle of the pitch to be picked up by Cumbernauld who took the ball forward onto the half way line only to be forced back 10 meters by a tight Telford defence. A battling first 10 minutes ensued with great defence and fast attacks from both sides. Cumbernauld were awarded a penalty for a two man rip on the twentieth minute, the tap was taken quickly by Craig Williamson who tanked forward through two Telford defenders off loading to Cumbernauld's George Gemmell who burst over the try line for the first Try of the match.
Cumbernauld's Ruiragh Cuthbertson collected the ball from the kick off and scooted up the middle of the pitch, a good set from Cumbernauld with the turnover to Telford on the 6th on the 60m line, Telford attacked fast and were unlucky to loose possession after the third tackle to an interception by Cumbernauld's Tony Foster who made some good yards up field with the ball only for it to be knocked on at the half way mark, Telford took full advantage of this scrum and attacked hard and fast shipping the ball to Damien Hoyland for Telfords first Try.
Cumbernauld kicked the ball straight out from the kick off resulting in a penalty half way to Telford, Telford produced a great kick up field from the penalty. Great defence from Cumbernauld halting Telford from their 2nd try of the game with some great 3 man tackling, Telford kicked on the 5th tackle which was picked up by Cumbernauld's Derek McNeil who was then high tackled by Telford resulting in Cumbernauld penalty. A further hard fought 15 minute back to back play ensued with great attack and defence from both teams, Telford caught offside 15 meters from their try line, Ruraigh Cuthbertson of Cumbernauld taking full advantage off the penalty by putting a try past some unsuspecting Telford defence.

2nd Half
Great start of the 2nd half from Telford with a strong confident attack resulting in Aaron Welsh scoring a quick try evening the score line.
This was followed by a good return set from Cumbernauld kick on the 5th tackle with powerful forward play to enable Cumbernauld's Louis Senter to get over the line to score .
With a tired looking Cumbernauld defence suffering from three key players off the field due to injury a strong and physical Telford took full advantage with player Yan Young and putting two back to back try's past a weak Cumbernauld defence.
Telford again recognised where they could take advantage in the defensive line of Cumbernauld and ran another two try's past with the final score 24-12 to Telford.
Cumbernauld will be hosting second fixture at Broadwood Stadium in February 2012
