Bannerman High School vs. Aberdeen Grammar School
Bannerman High School took to the field against an inexperienced Aberdeen Grammar school who were making their first ever rugby league outing at S4/S5 level. The game started with Aberdeen securing the upper hand with try's from Fin Muller and Finlay Johnson, Lawrence Shabie converted one to take the score to 0 - 10. Bannerman fought hard in defence and were rewarded in attack as Ross McEwan found the gap to score out wide. 4 - 10.
Aberdeen extended their lead through Lawrence Shabie who dummied his way through the Bannerman line to score before converting his own try. 4 - 16. Shabies' try was quickly followed by another just before half time which saw Robert Sevirright cross the whitewash to leave the half time score 4 - 20.

The second half saw a bruising encounter between the two squads as they both made good yards in attack but equally matched each other defensively. It was Bannerman who finally made the breakthrough to close the gap through Ross McEwan who's try was converted. 10 - 20. Aberdeen closed out the match with 5 minutes remaining with a well worked move that allowed Calle Leopold to break the line and score under the posts, making for an easy conversion for Lawrence Shabie to close the game and make the final score 10 - 26.

Whitehill Secondary School vs. Aberdeen Grammar School
Whitehill began their semi final campaign in fine form after a strong defensive set they regathered the ball and launched a wide move that put Cameron Sinclair cross the line to provide an early lead.
Aberdeen Grammar gathered their composure and began to increase pressure on the Whitehill line to no avail due to a solid Whitehill defence. The breakthrough finally came just before half time when Lewis Read crossed to level the scores at 4 - 4.
After the break, Aberdeen received the kick and began to assault the Whitehill line which provided Lawrence Shabie with an opportunity to break down the left flank and score under the posts. Shabie converted. 4 - 10.
Shabie again received the ball in space and managed to jinx his way through to score again converting his own try to leave the score at 4 - 16. Aberdeen closed out the game with a final try from Fin Muller that secured their place in the Saltire Schools Final with a 4 - 22 win.
Bannerman High School vs. Whitehill Secondary School
Bannerman and Whitehill have a history of rugby league, in the regional rounds Bannerman defeated Whitehill 42 - 8 which left Whitehill out to avenge that defeat. The game started with Bannerman opening their account in the game with a try that saw their winger cross after a series of interlinking plays from the backs. 4 - 0.
Whitehill struck back with an excellent try from Cameron Sinclair who was able to break the Bannerman line to score. Sinclair converted his own try to allow Whitehill to take the lead. 4 - 6. Whitehill extended their lead minutes later, again through Cameron Sinclair who converted. 4 - 12.
Bannerman absorbed the pressure from Whitehill and managed to mount an attack that brought them back into the game through a Ross McEwan try that was converted 10 - 12. Bannerman struck again with their prop forwards rumbling up the middle of the park before the hooker dived over to give Bannerman back the lead for the first time since their first score 16 - 12. It was Whitehill whoever, who delivered the final blow of the match after puncturing the Bannerman line and crossing the whitewash to level the scores at 16 - 16.
Whitehill converted the try to win the match in the dying seconds and progress through to the Saltire Schools Final where they will play Aberdeen Grammar.
S4/S5 Final Result
Whitehill Secondary School 16 - 54 Aberdeen Grammar School
Whitehill Secondary School kicked off the George Fairbairn Cup in the Second final of the Saltire School Competition. Aberdeen's forwards collected the kick and worked up field well by with a powerful drive by Finlay Johnston before Aberdeen were awarded a penalty for off side which resulted in a Grammar try through Lawrence Sahebi, the conversion hit the post taking the score to Aberdeen Grammar 4 - 0.
Aberdeen dominated the early possession spreading the ball wide to Cameron Howe who crossed the line to increase Grammars' lead. The extras were added by Lawrence Sahebi (10 - 0).
Whitehill placed a deep kick from the restart that forced the error from Grammar and a penalty put more pressure on the Aberdeen line but a double movement against Whitehill saw Aberdeen awarded a penalty on their own line.
Aberdeen broke through the defensive line and Campbell Simpson crossed under the posts with Sahebi kicking the conversion (16 -0).
Whitehill again forced the error off the re-start that put them in a good field position before spreading the ball wide for Matthew Aird to dive over for the score. (16 - 4).
Aberdeen Grammar restarted the match with a deep kick before Whitehill were awarded a penalty for Offside. Some outstanding defence from the Aberdeen Grammar forwards was marred with a penalty for offside which resulted in Whitehill applying pressure to the Grammar defence.
Whitehill continued to attack the Aberdeen line but the Grammar team managed to absorb the pressure and regained the ball from a knock on from the kick.
Grammar's forwards powered up the field before conceding a penalty on the Whitehill 20 metre line. Whitehill were unable to utilise the possession knocking on in centre field. Aberdeen capitalised on the error and Campbell Simpson's offload to Findlay Johnston saw Johnston speed down the wing to score in the corner. Sahebi converted to increase Aberdeen's lead to 22 - 4.
Whitehill were awarded a scrum from a Grammar knock on and floated the ball out to the wing but a knock on meant gifted possession back to Aberdeen. Grammar worked the ball wide to Sahebi who ran in from the half way point to score. Sahebi converted his own try. (28 - 4).
Aberdeen began to stretch their lead with a breakaway score from Finn Muller, Sahebi converted the extras to increase the lead to 34 - 4 at half time.
Aberdeen restarted the match and Whitehill worked well to complete their set before Robert Seuiwright powered his way through to defensive line to score. Sahebi again converted to give Aberdeen a 40 - 4 lead.
Whitehill began to mount an attack deep in the Aberdeen half but were unable to convert the possession into points and gifted the ball back to Aberdeen Lewis Clark broke through but was well tackled by Jason Sharkey who forced the knock on. Aberdeen regained possession and Kalie Leopoldt bulldozed his way over the Whitehill line. 44 - 4
Aberdeen continued to hammer the Whitehill line and Matt Henderson received a wide pass to score in the corner. Sahebi hit the conversion attempt off the post leave the scores as 48 - 4.
Whitehill began to show more composure and Sean Toner broke down the wing but he was tackled into touch by the Aberdeen defence. Aberdeen spread the ball wide again and Sahebi, who was outstanding, broke down the wing before being brought down on Whitehill's 40 metre line.
With ten minutes to go Aberdeen again rounded the Whitehill defensive line to allow Tom Perritt to score in the corner, Sahebi hit the post again with the conversion but this time it found its way over the crossbar to make the score 54 - 4.
Whitehill regained possession with a short kick that bounced into touch and gave them a strong field position for an attacking set before Cameron Sinclair managed to cross the whitewash and score out wide. Sinclair converted his try to make the score 54 - 10.
Whitehill finished the game in a flourish with some strong defensive play that forced the error from Aberdeen Grammar to regain possession. Sharkey made a break through centre field and Whitehill desperately tried to use the flanks to penetrate the Aberdeen line. The pressure paid off and Robert Mcdonald dived over for Whitehill. Fraser McTaggart converted to make the score 54 - 16 before the full time whistle.
