Student RL

Student Rugby League began in Scotland in 1989 when a group of students at Aberdeen University established a team and formed the first Scotland Students squad. Since then the only sustained rugby league club has been Edinburgh Napier University. Edinburgh Napier established themselves in 2002 through the work of three students Mike Wallace, Aran Simm and Barry Earl. Since the clubs conception it has produced 28 international players at various age groups and has been a dominant Force in the BUCS North league, having never fallen below 3rd place.
Scotland Rugby League are now looking to build on the success of Edinburgh Napier University and establish more university clubs across the country to form a competitive league over the academic year. The league will be set for Sunday matches to avoid conflict with other sports and allow all students the chance to try rugby league at their institution for the first time. If you are studying at a Scottish Further or Higher Education institution and want to know more about setting up a university club, contact srl.development@rfl.uk.com and entitle your email 'Student Rugby League'.Scottish Universities Rug
