Scotland Rugby League are delighted to announce a partnership with Hawick RFC for the 2026 season that will see several fixtures played at the historic Mansfield Park ground.

One of the oldest and most successful clubs in Scottish Rugby Union, Borders club Hawick boasts a proud history in both rugby union and rugby league, with a number of the infamous “codebreakers” having represented the club before switching to rugby league in England.
This year, Hawick will play host to international fixtures at junior level along with senior internationals for both men and women. It will also be the venue for the Grand Final of the 2026 Rhino sponsored Scottish Men’s Premiership in August.

SRL Operations Director Barry McGuffog said “It’s fantastic to finally be able to announce that we’ll be playing at Hawick this year. The club is steeped in history in both codes of rugby so it’s great to be able to bring rugby league to Mansfield Park, and kind of give a tip of the cap to the codebreakers who travelled south from the club to play rugby league in northern England. I would like to thank Eddie and the board at Hawick RFC for their assistance in making this happen and enabling us to bring rugby league to the Borders again. Hopefully this partnership will prove mutually beneficial to both parties in various ways.”

Past President of Hawick RFC, Ian W Landles BEM added “Hawick RFC are delighted to welcome Scotland Rugby League to Mansfield Park. How times have changed since the days when League scouts lured Greens players to change codes and move south. Among them 1920s legend British Lion Willie Welsh and most notably Dave Valentine who signed for Huddersfield and went on to captain the Great Britain Rugby League side. Other Hawick stars like our great 1959-1960 Championship winning half-backs Glen Turnbull and Drew Broatch would have won Scottish international caps had they not signed for Workington and Leeds respectively. The coming together of both our codes has been a great development of recent years and we look forward to hosting this summer’s fixtures which hopefully will be the start of a long relationship.”

Scotland Rugby League hope to announce a full calendar of both domestic fixtures in the next few weeks as the build up to Las Vegas Continues for the triple-header versus the USA for the U19s, men’s and women’s teams at the end of February.
