Bravehearts squad for Jamaica

Scotland Head Coach has named his final squad for the Bravehearts’ upcoming fixture against Jamaica, after a selection camp in Dewsbury.

The squad features a number of experienced heads, as well as an influx of new players, with 6 players in with a chance of picking up their first Scotland caps.

“The sessions have been great in terms of getting people together after a couple of years away from the international arena.

“It was tough to pick a squad of 20 but I am confident we have the personnel to perform well on Sunday. We have a lot of newcomers to the group and I’m looking forward to seeing what they can bring to the mix.”

Graham has added versatile back Kieran Buchanan, Betfred Championship entertainer of the year Lachlan Walmsley, London Broncos hooker Rob Oakley, and York Knights prop Jack Teanby to his side.

There will also be a chance for former U20 Scottish Rugby Union cap Guy Graham to make his first full international appearance, and Scotland U19 and Students player Charlie Emslie to achieve senior international honours having come through the Scotland Rugby League pathway.

“It’s great to see someone like Charlie Emslie who has come all the way through the Scotland pathway. From U19’s, through the Students and on to the 1st team set up. He is a great example of what we are about and what can be achieved by young people committing to the process”

Scotland will be facing a Jamaica side looking to bounce back after a disappointing 4-56 defeat to the England Knights, however Graham is still well aware of the challenge that faces the Bravehearts on Sunday.

“Looking at last weekend’s game I’m sure Jamaica will have a point to prove. They will be very committed and have a good amount of experienced players from Super League and Championship. It’s the ideal test for us and gives us the chance to have a good hit out in preparation for next year’s World Cup.”
