James Sloggie, National Development Manager said:

We are excited to welcome both Leigh and Martin to the role. We had a number of strong candidates through the recruitment process, but I believe we have 2 excellent coaches and role models to take the under 19 game forward in Scotland.

Leigh and Martin will link up with the squad immediately to maximise preparation for the upcoming European Championship in September. They have a fairly short turnaround, but they have a great group of players to work with. Leigh and Martins’s extensive experience in the game will allow them to develop a well-prepared squad for the Euros and the long term.

Scott Simon, Scotland Rugby League Chair added:

I am delighted to welcome Leigh and Martin to the SRL family. Both bring a wealth of experience and expertise that will help further develop a player focussed pathway and allow our talent to succeed. I’m looking forward to working with and supporting Leigh and Martin to embed their coaching philosophies, develop an exciting brand of U19 rugby and continue to grow the Rugby League opportunities in Scotland.
