Bravehearts set to take on the Reggae Warriors

Scotland Rugby League are delighted to announce that their Men’s team will make a return to action against Jamaica at Featherstone Rovers, October 24th 2021

The match will be the senior side’s first game since beating Greece 42-24 in 2019. The fixture, organised after the postponement of the 2021 Rugby League World Cup, will be a chance for the team to prepare themselves after a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

The Bravehearts will take on the ‘Reggae Warriors’ for the first time, and for Head Coach Nathan Graham it is an exciting opportunity to get back on the field, and take a closer look at new players.

“With the World Cup postponement this game gives us the ideal chance to get people together and build on the amazing spirit that our boys have. It’s been a while since we have been able to have a meet up and I know the players are buzzing to get some sessions under their belts and get into the camp environment.

There will probably be a few new faces in our squad and and it will be good to have a look at them close up. Jamaica will certainly be a tough opposition with plenty of Super League experience in their squad and I am expecting it to be a really good contest.”

The Scotland Wheelchair Rugby League team will also be back in action on the 30th, as they face Wales for the first time since the 2021 Celtic Cup. Head Coach Mark Roughsedge is hoping the fixture will be a chance to test and experiment ahead of next year’s World Cup.

“We have had a fantastic period of training and getting to know the squad and with that an understanding of the areas where we need to get better. Dave Abel and I have built a strong relationship with the squad and they all have an understanding of the expectations and standards that are required to be a Scotland Wheelchair RL player.

The Wales game provides us with a competitive environment to put into practice our systems and make some mistakes that we can learn from.We will be using this game to experiment and to test our squad. I look forward to seeing how our new caps blend in with some of our more established players.”

More info on ticketing to follow.
